Many thanks to my students who attended my music party on Saturday 2nd May and the associated 5th Visual Art Contest: "How Does Music Look?"
The main theme of the evening was the development of a personal artistic image appropriate to successful music making and more in-depth musical appreciation.
One of my students, Joni Ahonen, took a central role in the proceedings. As well as adjudicating on the art exhibits, he contributed knowledgably to the discussion on artistic image using his background as a student of art at Reading University.
One of the most important teachers of piano in the twentieth century, Heinrich Newhaus, stated that developing one`s own artistic image should begin at the very first stage of learning to play piano and note reading. Other forms of art must be taken into account and nurtured, for example, visual art, poetry, architecture etc. The artistic image and piano technique should be the basis of every lesson. Horovitz, Lupu, Richter and Gilels are proof of their teacher`s wisdom.

In first Saturday of December we had yet another fantastic event. This time it was more family gathering than a formal concert as some of my students were playing with members of their famiilies. There were about 21 artists playing more then 30 pieces on 3 different instruments. Thank you so much to all of you for such fantastic evening ;-)
Please clik link given below to see brief summary prepared by my friends after our concert.

Despite very unusual weather conditions most of my Students managed to come for our first concert to my favourite venue in Bracknell: Recital Room in South Hill Park. Those who were there had very lovely evening, those who were not... should rather regret. For most of us it was a great challenge, first time on real grand piano and first time in front of the real audience (more then 70 persons).
Amelia played by Carly was finished with long applause from the audience. Please have a look at the video and imagine that Carly started her adventure with piano just in September 2010.
